Alberto "Beto" Gutierrez, Ph.D.

Born in a rural town in Zacatecas, Mexico that had no running water and despite a California high-school counselor that advise him to learn to paint cars, Gutierrez went to earn an M.A. in Urban Planning and a Ph.D. in Education from UCLA. He has taught in juvenile halls, detention camps, a continuation school, community colleges, at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), and at five distinct Mexican institutions.
